Suitability

I've been speaking with Tiago Alix Gomes Caires, who is currently working as a Full Stack Lead and Frontend Developer at Conversio, a consultancy focused on CRO. With five years of experience under his belt, Tiago came across as thoughtful, technically grounded and genuinely engaged throughout our conversation. He has a clear sense of where he is in his career and what kind of environment brings out the best in him, which always makes for a more productive conversation from my end.

In terms of what stands out most from his background, Tiago architected an internal platform that consolidated more than five separate tools into a single, cohesive system. The result was a saving of over ten hours per week for a fifteen-person team, which is a meaningful, demonstrable impact rather than the kind of vague contribution you often hear about at this level. That project tells me a great deal about how he thinks, specifically that he is willing to step back, look at inefficiencies across a whole team or workflow, and take ownership of solving them properly rather than patching things together.

On the technical side, Tiago works day to day with TypeScript, React and Node.js on the frontend and backend respectively, alongside PostgreSQL for data, Docker for containerisation and GCP for cloud infrastructure. That is a well-rounded, modern fullstack stack and he is operating at lead level within it, which means he is not just writing code but making architectural decisions and helping to shape how a team delivers. From what he has described to me, he is comfortable owning problems end to end and is used to working in an environment where he has to context-switch between strategic thinking and hands-on delivery.

Regarding his motivation for moving, Tiago has been clear that he is looking for a role where he can continue to operate at lead level but with greater scope and ideally within a product-focused environment or a team where there is more room to grow into broader engineering leadership over time. He is open to hybrid arrangements or fully UK-remote positions, and he is based in Lower Upham. I have not yet confirmed his notice period, so that is worth raising early in your process. Overall, I think Tiago is a well-rounded candidate at the more capable end of what I see at this level, and I would be happy to recommend him for a conversation.
